Commercialization Academy

An incubator for innovation at Johns Hopkins, the Commercialization Academy connects you with faculty, staff, and students across the university to bring over 300 new ideas to fruition and technologies to market each year. 

Hexcite

At the Hexcite early-stage medical software accelerator, match with Johns Hopkins care providers who have an idea to create and market a software solution that improves patient care. Join a team of graduate students from across Johns Hopkins to engage with the new health technology software from every angle and bring the care provider's innovation to market.

MIINT Impact Investing Program

Join the six-month experiential lab that simulates the early stages of impact investing. Participate in one-on-one advisory sessions and gain experience evaluating real-world investment opportunities.

Nonprofit Boards

Partner with Business Volunteers of Maryland to match with a nonprofit looking for new board members. Through board service, develop leadership skills, build a network within your industry, and make a significant impact at a nonprofit.

Student Impact Teams

Student Impact Teams collaborate with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to create large-scale co-curricular events and initiatives. Participating on a team offers students the opportunity to lead from concept to execution. The application for selection launches early Fall.

Library Resources

Library Centers for the Carey Business School are located at the Columbia Center, Harbor East, Homewood (main campus), Montgomery County Campus, and at the Krieger Arts and Sciences Washington, D.C. location. Librarians are available for individual help or group information sessions. Our librarians are instrumental in helping students with the selection of credible sources, designing successful searches, and providing directions on how to best use our 70+ business databases.

Collaborate with communities on neighborhood revitalization projects fuel business innovation, inclusive wealth creation, economic democracy, and social impact investing in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and other cities around the country. 

CityLab course structure

CityLab consists of two eight-week courses and is open to MBA and MS students. In the first course, CityLab Toolkit: Urban Immersion, work individually and in teams, immersing yourself in an intensive weekend urban experience as you learn and practice strategies, tools, and skills for rebuilding cities from within. In the second course, CityLab Practicum: Social Impact Project, students put your knowledge and skills to work on a social impact project sponsored by a neighborhood entrepreneur, business, or organization

Partnering with CityLab is an opportunity to work with local leaders who are reimagining neighborhoods like Congress Heights, Trinidad, and the New York Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue gateways into thriving residential communities and commercial hubs.
