Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is committed to your student success as well as your safety. We want you to have a safe and productive learning environment, and that starts with you. We encourage you to follow these safety tips and be sure you are connected to our Homewood Public Safety as well.
Safety checklist for students
- Program the Public Safety emergency number in your phone: 410-234-9301 for Harbor East or 202-663-5808 for Washington DC.
- Download the free LiveSafe app to your phone. Users can Purchase a U-Lock to secure your bike. U-Locks provide call, text, and submit tips to Public Safety in real time - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Never respond to a request for personal or financial information that you didn’t anticipate. Never pay some-one who insists on receiving gift cards or wired money.
- Visit the JHU Public Safety website to review crime prevention tips.
- Behavioral Health Crisis Support Team: BHCST provides immediate assistance and support to students in crisis. Call 410-516-WELL or visit JHU Student Well-Being.
- Access Blue Jay Shuttles through the TransLoc app. Users can track shuttles and request pickups via the app or by visiting ondemand.transloc.com.
- Purchase a U-Lock to secure your bike. U-Locks provide a higher level of security than cable locks.
- Photograph valuables and note serial numbers. This information is important if valuables are missing. Register your valuables with Public Safety
- Install computer locating software This security feature is helpful in tracking missing devices
- Office of Institutional Equity: OIE is a valuable resource for victims, as they investigate reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. Visit OIE for more information.
If you are in an emergency off-campus
- Immediately comply with demands and give up your property, don't give up your life.
- Call 911 immediately and seek out the police
- Contact Carey.Security@jhu.edu to report the incident after you are safe
