Teaching & Learning promotes and supports teaching excellence at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School by providing the following services:

Faculty Development

• One-on-one consultations related to teaching and learning
• New faculty orientation and ongoing faculty development
• In-person and online workshops addressing common topics and concerns related to teaching
• Webpages providing relevant and practical information on teaching and learning

Instructional Technology

• Recommendations for new and emerging instructional technologies
• Assistance with implementing new technologies in the classroom
• Ongoing support and training for commonly used classroom technologies, such as Canvas

Instructional Design

• Design, development, and evaluation of both face-to-face and online courses
• Guidance on how to implement different instructional  strategies, such as using learning activities as an alternative to traditional lectures
• Assistance with implementing best practices of instructional design, such as creating grading rubrics

Learning Assessment

• Guidance on designing assessments and rubrics to effectively measure student learning
• Collection and analysis of assessment data to demonstrate achievement of program learning outcomes
• Assistance with identifying curriculum improvements and refining teaching strategies to address competency gaps and improve student learning

Syllabi Maintenance and Review

• Maintenance of the Carey syllabus template and course-specific standard syllabi
• Reviews of section-specific syllabi prior to the start of each semester
