The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Annual Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Summit was held from Wednesday, March 30th to Friday, April 1st. The focus of the summit was Intention, Action, & Accountability. Business leaders shared how DEIB initiatives are developed and driven through the organization. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Belonging practitioners discussed the impact and success of fostering environments that are diverse, inclusive, and equitable and shared best practices to measure the success of DEI initiatives.

Diversity at Carey
At Carey Business School, diversity and inclusion are not just initiatives or a task force. They are baked into everything we do. And we embrace and continue to build a diverse student body, staff, and faculty because we believe our differences can be a powerful force for good. While we are proud of our commitment to underserved populations, we know there is still much more to do.
Summit Schedule of Events
Business leaders will share how DEIB initiatives are developed and driven through organizations. The Senior Executive Panelists includes Tony Lewis, Vice President Public Policy at Verizon, Robert Kirkland, Senior Executive at Stanley Black & Decker, Evette Creighton, Sr Manager, Talent, Inclusion, and Diversity at Transamerica, and LaTara Harris, Regional Director-External & Legislative Affairs at AT&T. The panel will be moderated by Alex Triantis, Dean Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, and Jill Green, Associate Dean, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.

A panel discussion about DEIB strategies and what organizations are doing to measure success. A panel of experts will share how they are mapping initiatives and holding the organization accountable. Panelists includes Karen Sentementes, Executive Director Human Resources & Talent Management, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Ian Brown, Vice President, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging, Erickson Living, and Jessica L. Rice, Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Under Armour. The panel will be moderated by Dr. James Calvin, Professor, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
Identifying, developing, and retaining high potential diverse talent (Action)
A panel of leading change makers in the Baltimore/D.C region will discuss Recruitment and Development Strategies and identifying, developing, and retaining high potential diverse talent. Panelists includes, Lemar White, Google, Channel Lead - DEI Communities & Allies, Georgia Coffee, Lockheed Martin, Director - Global Diversity & Inclusion, Nicole Wormley, Danaher, Senior Director, Diversity Attraction and University Recruitment. The panel will be moderated by Johns Hopkins Carey graduate student, Iman Carr.

A conversation with community and business leaders sharing initiatives to increase access and landscape. Panelists includes Delali Dzirasa, CEO, Fearless, Nigel Garcia, Deputy Director, Community Engagement & Advocacy, Baltimore Corps, and Brittany Young, Founder, B-360. The panel will be moderated by Johns Hopkins Carey graduate student, Bianca Sandiko, Student Advocacy Council.
Accessibility, Neurodiversity, and Mental Health and Wellness
9:00 - Fostering An Inclusive Community. Panelists from the JHU Community sharing resources to increase accessibility and improve accommodations. Panelists includes, Dr. Toby Gordon, Professor of Practice, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Aaron, Hodukavich, ADA Compliance Officer, Johns Hopkins University, Cathie Axe, Executive Director, Student Disability Services, Johns Hopkins University. The panel will be moderated by Johns Hopkins Carey graduate student, Temitope Oso, Africa Business Club.
10:00 - Intro to Neurodiversity by Jessica Lee, Executive Director, Co-Founder, NeuroTalentWorks. Speaker Introduction given by Johns Hopkins Carey graduate student, Taijasi Sharma.
10:30 - A Presentation on Mental Health & Wellness by Carissa Begonia, Founder, CONSCIOUSXCHANGE. Speaker introduction given by Johns Hopkins Carey graduate student, Angela Carroll, Women In Business.

Summer Business Academy
An immersive experience for historically underrepresented undergraduate scholars.
To facilitate the growth and cultivation of diverse leaders in the region and beyond, the Carey Business School created the Summer Business Academy. Its goal is to support rising college juniors and seniors in their exploration of graduate-level business education by offering exposure to the latest management and leadership theory and applications.
The application deadline for the 2022 Summer Business Academy is May 2, 2022.
