Carey Students Earn Multiple Awards in Recent Competitions
February has been a busy – and successful – month for Carey students in regional and national competitions.
A team of Johns Hopkins University students, including three from the Carey Business School, recently won first prize in the annual Yale Healthcare Case Competition, while another Carey student won a personal award at the Fisher KeyBank Minority Case Competition. Not to be outdone, a team of Carey students also finished first in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area CFA Institute Research Challenge.
Abhinav Chintakunta (GMBA, co-president of Net Impact); Vadi Esmailizadeh (MPH/MBA); Jeremy LeMaster (Flex MBA, Student Advocacy Council member); Nina Udeshi (MPH/MBA); and Josh Yang (Johns Hopkins University, MD/PhD) garnered the first-place standing and a $5,000 prize at the Yale competition, held Saturday, February 23, at the Yale School of Management in New Haven, Connecticut.
The Yale Healthcare Case Competition is an annual student-run competition sponsored by The Jackson Laboratory and other corporate leaders in healthcare and biotechnology. The event brings together interdisciplinary teams of students across multiple professional schools and programs to solve the field’s most challenging problems. Graduate students in any accredited MBA, MPH, MHA, MD, or PhD program are eligible to compete.
In addition, KeyBank and Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University hosted its 15th annual Minority MBA Student Case Competition on February 22-24, in Cleveland, Ohio. The KeyBank Foundation supervised the selection of a contemporary and never-before-used case topic that addressed business issues with varied implications at either a national or international level. Teams of three presenters were invited from universities and colleges across the country to compete.
During the competition, Carey student Benjamin Schneider (GMBA) won a personal award for “Best Q&A”. This award is presented to the student who demonstrates the best ability to answer judges’ questions after their team presentation.
Meanwhile, Carey students Rishi Bagga (MSF), Richard Brian Booth (GMBA), Jie Nan (MSF), Yuanbei Tang (GMBA), and Sean Zhang (MSF) took top honors in the 2019 CFA Research Challenge held in Washington, D.C. February 15, catapulting them into the Challenge’s Americas Regional competition to be held in New York City in June.
