Career & Life Design team

 

Jenn Leard – Director, Career & Life Design  

Jenn leads a team of coaching and career education professionals and operations support to empower Carey students and alumni to reach their unique professional goals. She earned an MEd in Counseling and Career Development from Colorado State University and the Georgetown Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching. Jenn is a Certified Career Coach through the Career Development Network and a National Certified Counselor, with 16+ years of combined consulting industry, leadership and career development, and higher education experience. 

Michelle Jones – Senior Associate Director, Career Education & Life Design 

Michelle is a certified MBA Career Coach with 15+ years of experience in higher education, ten of those being at the Carey Business School. Michelle manages special projects and initiatives within Career & Life Design and in partnership with Employer Relations. She teaches a career course for our part-time students here at Carey, the first of its kind in the MBA career space. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and a Master of Arts in College Student Development from Appalachian State University. 

Karen Hansberger – Senior Administrative Coordinator, Career & Life Design 

Karen has worked at Johns Hopkins University, in many different capacities, for nearly 39 years. She currently leads operations and administration for both the Career & Life Design and Employer Relations teams, and serves as a direct supervisor for Graduate Assistants working in Career & Life Design and Employer Relations. Karen partners with internal and external collaborators to manage communications, events, and multiple office processes.

Tracy Potter – Senior Associate Director, Coaching & Career Education 

Tracy is a certified MBA Career Coach who supports and empowers students and alumni to seek their individual career and professional goals.  She earned her Master of Science in Applied Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Notre Dame of Maryland University.  Tracy has 20+ years of experience in career development at Johns Hopkins University (seven of those at Carey with graduate business students).   

Gabrielle Styles – Associate Director, Coaching & Career Education 

Gabrielle brings 10+ years of experience working with diverse populations in higher education. She embodies a holistic approach supporting students and alumni as they explore their interests and curiosities to establish and achieve their career goals. Gabrielle is passionate about advocating for and empowering students. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies, with a concentration in Life Coaching. Gabrielle is a certified MBA Career Coach and holds a Board-Certified Coaching (BCC) credential. 

Sheila Mahony – Assistant Director, Coaching & Career Education 

Sheila is a certified MBA Career Coach who empowers her students to become the best version of themselves. She uses her 10+ years of experience working across various functions in higher education to support her students in confidently approaching their career search in a focused, prepared, and enthusiastic manner. She is also working toward her Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership for Changing Populations, where she is researching burnout in student-facing staff.

Katie Pluemer - Associate Director, Coaching & Career Education 

Katie is a certified MBA Career Coach and Strengths Coach, she works with Carey students and alumni helping reach their professional interests and goals. Katie has worked in higher education for 15+ years serving students across the spectrum of their collegiate experiences and has found true passion working with students to prepare and excel in the internship and job search, career changes and self-discovery.  

Liz Matthews - Associate Director, Coaching & Career Education 

Liz Matthews is a Certified MBA Career Coach through The Academies and has a Global Career Development Facilitator certification through NCDA (National Career Development Association). Liz spent 20+ years working in the public, private, and government sectors. She has held communications and outreach positions with AmeriCorps, two national nonprofit organizations, a fortune 500 company, and a tech start-up. She is passionate about bringing her industry experience and coaching expertise to help students design meaningful careers.

Jacques Domenge - Associate Director, Coaching & Career Education 

Jacques Domenge is a career and leadership coach at Carey and in his own practice. He has partnered with professionals at all levels of their careers from entry level through C-suite and is intimately familiar with the challenges adults face and often create for themselves. He started the leadership coaching offering at Carey and is a fierce advocate for his clients to reach the highest expression of themselves and prides himself on his clients’ coaching outcomes.  

Miller Simmons, III - Associate Director, Coaching & Career Education 

Miller Simmons, III is a Certified Executive Leadership Development Coach, Workforce Transition Strategist, Senior Certified HR professional (SHRM), and Associate Director of Coaching & Education at Carey Business School. Miller has also been a mentor with the Global Mentorship Initiative, helping college students in South Africa and the United States prepare for their first careers, develop global business communication skills and job search strategies, and learn how to excel in their careers.
