Speaker Series Event Focuses on Intricacies of Insurance Risk Analysis
Insurance executive Christopher Schaper provided insights into the complexities of risk analysis within his industry, during the September 21, 2021, presentation in Johns Hopkins Carey Business School’s Distinguished Speaker Series.
Schaper, the group chief executive officer of AIG RE, the global reinsurance business of American International Group, was joined in conversation by Carey Dean Alex Triantis for the hour-long virtual event titled “Calculating Risk in an Uncertain World.”
At AIG RE, Schaper is responsible for the implementation and execution of the firm’s global assumed reinsurance strategy, with a focus on the development of innovative reinsurance and capital markets solutions.
He also guides the firm’s applied research enterprise, which is engaged in risk analytics associated with natural catastrophes, climate change, and other environmental issues.

He also served as president of Montpelier Re Ltd. and as underwriting chairman of Blue Capital, Montpelier’s capital markets entity. He has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, serving in executive leadership and board roles during his career. He earned an MBA from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2002 and is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council.
