Using design thinking to improve patient experiences

Carey's Sharon Kim and Christopher Myers comment in Harvard Business Review

The creative strategies of design thinking have been applied in a variety of professional fields, including health care, specifically in the development of products and the design of spaces.
Yet, as Carey Business School Assistant Professors Sharon Kim and Christopher Myers note in a piece they have co-authored for the Harvard Business Review, with Lisa Allen of Johns Hopkins Medicine, design thinking has been underused in addressing the experiences of medical patients.
"If more leaders embrace design thinking," the article states, "they can leverage a deeper understanding of patients ... , achieving better clinical outcomes, improved patient experience, and lower costs along the way."
