Three Carey Faculty Members Receive JHU Catalyst Awards

UNIVERSITY GRANTS RECOGNIZE, SUPPORT WORK OF EARLY-CAREER RESEARCHERS

Johns Hopkins University introduced the Catalyst Awards in 2015 to support the efforts of early-career faculty members whose work has shown originality and made an impact in their respective fields. Carey Business School researchers have received the awards each year since the program’s inception, and this year is no different.

As announced June 4 by the university, Associate Professor Alessandro Rebucci, Associate Professor Meng Zhu, and Assistant Professor Yaa Akosa Antwi are the latest Carey faculty members to receive Catalyst Awards. They are among 32 faculty members from across eight divisions of JHU to be named recipients.

A $75,000 grant is given to each of the awardees to support their work in the coming year.

Yaa Akosa Antwi, who earned her PhD in applied economics and management at Carnegie Mellon University, joined the Carey Business School faculty in 2016. Her expertise is in health economics and policy. Alessandro Rebucci earned his doctorate in economics at Queen Mary College, University of London. He joined Carey in 2013 and is an expert in financial institutions, international finance, macroeconomics, and international real estate. Meng Zhu earned her PhD at Carnegie Mellon in 2011 and arrived that year at Carey. Her specialty is marketing, with a focus on consumer decision making and the effects of scarcity on human behavior.
