Carey Alumni Weekend Marked by Full Schedule of Events

Students Beet Week

Campus tours, faculty and student presentations, and a capstone reception and dinner were among the highlights of the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School’s alumni reunion weekend, held April 27-29.  Carey graduates, most notably those whose years of matriculation ended in a “3” or “8”, along with their guests and families, convened at the school’s Harbor East campus for a busy, interactive slate of events.

Activities kicked off with a Global MBA class of 2013 welcome reception the evening of Friday, April 27.  On Saturday the 28th, after a welcome breakfast for all alumni with the Student Government Association entitled “The Leaders of Tomorrow,” guests were treated to tours of the Harbor East campus.  Later that morning, alumni wistful for the classroom had the chance to hear Carey Professor Steven Cohen discuss advanced marketing strategy in his interactive lecture, “Persuasion at Work: The Science of Getting to ‘Yes.’”

That afternoon, Carey students in the school’s Innovation for Humanity program shared their international learning experiences with alumni, many of whom also participated in the program during their time at Carey.  The day’s busy agenda concluded with a capstone dinner and reception at Baltimore’s Pier 5 Hotel, hosted by Carey Dean Bernie Ferrari, along with the school’s Management Council and faculty.  In addition to an evening of networking and mingling, assembled guests heard the latest Carey updates and plans for the school.

Alumni weekend concluded on Sunday, April 29, with a “Best of Baltimore” farewell brunch at newly opened Gunther & Co.

In all, more than 60 alumni and guests attended the weekend festivities. “This was Carey’s second year hosting its own reunion, and we look forward to continuing this opportunity to reconnect with our alumni in the years to come,” said Carey’s Director of Alumni Relations Sharon Trivino.
