New Student COVID-19 Testing FAQ

Do I need to test before orientation or pre-orientation activities?

Yes. A home antigen test is required before coming to campus.

What do I do with my at-home test results?  Do I need to show proof of my results to come to campus?

If your home test is negative, no further action is needed. If you have a positive at-home test, please contact https://t.jh.edu/student-ext-test to enter your information.

Once courses start, am I required to regularly test for COVID-19?

No. Routine COVID testing is not required at this time. Routine testing and other measures, such as mandating the wearing of face mask, may be implemented if public health conditions warrant.

If I want a COVID test, where should I go?

COVID testing sites are available on campus at the following locations. Baltimore students can get tested at the library on the 2nd floor at Harbor East. Washington, D.C. students can get tested at the SAIS Nitze Building at 1740 Massachusetts Avenue NW behind the Grab-N-Go and seating area.

Do I need to set up an account on Prodensity?

It is recommended that you use the Prodensity app when visiting campus. The app is available for both iPhone and Android. Students can log in to Prodensity the same way they would log in to any other Johns Hopkins service.

How can I access MyChart?

You can access MyChart from a browser at https://mychart.hopkinsmedicine.org/MyChart or from a smartphone by downloading the free MyChart app from the app store.

MyChart activation emails will be sent to students between August 15 through August 17. Please contact Testinginfo@jhu.edu for further assistance with MyChart.

How do international students register for MyChart?

International students will also receive an activation code via JHU email. International students will need a local address with zip code to successfully activate the MyChart account.

When do I need to register with the Vaccine Management System?

All graduate students who will be on-campus in the United States attending classes, performing duties, or participating in on-campus activities will be required to upload documentation of receipt of a U.S.-based FDA approved COVID-19 vaccine or receive an exception.

Proof of COVID vaccination must be submitted to the Vaccine Management System before fall classes begin. Disciplinary action will be taken if documentation is not submitted by the deadline.

Visit the Johns Hopkins University COVID Vaccine page for more details.
