Thomas R. Burton is a senior managing director and chief investment officer for Alex. Brown Realty (ABR). He has more than 33 years of experience in real estate investment management and related fields. Burton is also a member of the ARB’s Board of Directors and oversees the firm’s investment program, and he is responsible for corporate operating matters.

Burton joined ABR in 1992 and previously served as asset manager, vice president for asset management, and acquisitions officer. Prior to joining ABR, he spent two years at USF&G Corporation as an asset manager for the real estate division, and held positions The Dover Group, Ltd., and Ernst & Whinney.

Burton received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant, both inactive.
