We recommend that applicants build interdisciplinary teams to include all critical business skillsets and a variety of backgrounds and experience to address this unique and challenging case.
Key dates
Friday, Oct. 17: application deadline
Monday, Oct. 27: 10 selected teams will be notified via email
Wednesday, Oct. 29, noon ET: selected team registration deadline; teams will receive case packets via email after registering
Thursday, Nov. 20: student team slide decks due (no revisions permitted)
Friday, Nov. 21, 5 - 7:30 p.m.: Welcome and networking reception
Saturday, Nov. 22, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Competition and awards
What to expect
- The competition will include a first round of presentations in the morning.
- Judges will select five teams to continue to the afternoon round.
- The event will close with an awards ceremony and networking reception.
- The top three teams will receive awards of $8,000, $5,500, and $3,000, respectively.
Competition rules and regulations
- This competition is for graduate students only; MD and PhD candidates are permitted.
- Teams must include between three and five students; at least one team member must be an MBA student. \
- All team members must be from the same university.
- If your team is selected to compete, the team must then register. The registration fee is $100, payable by credit card. The team will receive the case packet after registering.
- Competing teams must submit presentation slide decks by noon ET Thursday, Nov. 20. Teams may not revise the deck after submitting.
- Competing teams must present in person at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, 100 International Dr., Baltimore, MD 21202
- To prevent bias, judges will not know which teams are from which universities. Do not identify your university on your slide deck, clothing, or accessories, or in interactions with judges.
- Teams may have an advisor, and that advisor may attend the competition, but is not permitted to provide advice the day of the competition.
