Shaping the Future of AI Medical Devices:
A Symposium on the Regulation of AI in Health Care and its Policy Implications
April 18, 2024
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center
Theater
555 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C.
Artificial intelligence is making significant strides in the health care industry, with AI-enhanced medical devices playing an increasingly important role in diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. With more than 690 FDA-approved AI medical devices available, the use of AI in health care presents unique regulatory challenges that require careful consideration. This symposium, co-hosted by the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, will explore lessons from this relatively short regulatory history, what remains to be understood from a regulatory science perspective, challenges in the use of AI in clinical care, and implications for future innovation and policymaking.
This symposium is by invitation only. For questions, contact Professor Phillip Phan.
