Randy Russell joined Pendrell as the CEO of Pendrell Financial Services (a newly formed Pendrell Corp. subsidiary) in November 2019 from Bank of America, where he served as a senior investment banker on the Global Technology, Media & Telecom investment banking coverage team, a role he started in June 2018.

At Bank of America, Randy covered more than 20 TMT clients including Verizon, Liberty Media, America Movil, SpaceX, Dish Network, EchoStar, CBS, Viacom and Pendrell, as well as most of the global satellite service operators. He was known as an expert in communications investment banking including wireless services, spectrum licenses, satellite broadcast and network services. He maintained active business relationships with c-suite executives, management teams and board of director’s members across a variety of communications, media and technology companies globally.

Prior to Bank of America, Randy was an investment banker at Deutsche Bank Securities in New York City for 17 years, where he served in a range of positions from a first-year Associate in Telecom coverage and to the Americas Head of Media & Telecom investment banking.

In addition to his industry coverage efforts, Randy spent 3 years (2014-2017) in a dual role, covering a group of Deutsche Bank’s most significant Financial Sponsors clients including The Carlyle Group, Warburg Pincus, BC Partners and Onex, and he also served as the Group’s Talent & Development Officer.

Randy’s management positions at DB included the co-Head of Americas Telecom Coverage, the Global Head of Satellite Services, and the Americas Head of Media and Telecom Investment Banking, a position he held when he left Deutsche Bank to join Bank of America. In addition, Randy was a member of the Americas Regional Leadership Group, which was responsible for driving strategy and operations in the Americas Region.

Beyond his coverage and leadership responsibilities, Randy has held other roles within corporate finance. He was the Telecom Group Chief Operating Officer (2004-2005), Head of Deutsche Bank’s Associate Development Program for new MBAs (2005-2006), and he helped establish Deutsche Bank’s Global Corporate Finance offshore financial analytics program and related minority growth investment in Copal Partners in India (2005-2007).

Before starting his career in finance, Randy was an Officer and Naval Aviator in the United States Marine Corps, where he served on active duty from 1991-1999. He rose to the rank of Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and his military roles included KC-130 pilot (Transport Plane Commander), aircraft maintenance officer (Powerline Division, VMGR-252)) and forward air controller (Battalion Landing Team 1/6, 24th MEU(SOC)). He participated in various global missions including service with several forward deployed Marine Expeditionary Units and received the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal for leadership, as well as a variety of other commendations, awards and campaign medals. Randy remains active with formal and grass roots military veteran career transition and mentoring programs and spends time with a variety of diversity efforts on Wall Street.

Randy holds a MBA from Johns Hopkins University (Concentration in Finance), where he serves on the Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board, he attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, California (1996-1997 - Aviation Safety Officer Program), and he has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Delaware (1991).
