Nell Buhlman is president and chief operating officer at Press Ganey, an Indiana-based health care company committed to reducing patient and caregiver suffering and improving the safety, quality, and experience of care. Buhlman oversees all areas of operations, IT, product management, sales, client management, educational, advisory, and consulting services. She is responsible for architecting the company’s forward-looking strategy, driving innovation and enhancements across the solution suite, while ensuring that the company continues to meet client expectations.
In her previous role as chief strategy officer, Buhlman oversaw product and solution strategy for Press Ganey’s core business, in addition to the corporate development, health policy, and research and analytics teams. Her prior roles included senior vice president for clinical and analytic solutions and vice president for product strategy.
Prior to Press Ganey, Buhlman spent 16 years at the Maryland Hospital Association’s Quality Indicator Project, the industry’s pioneer provider of quality measures reporting and advisory services. Under her leadership as the QI Project’s vice president for business development, Buhlman ran marketing, communications, and strategic partnerships. Buhlman started her career at the Advisory Board Company, a Washington, D.C.-based health care management consulting firm.
Buhlman is a board member for the Hospital for Consumptives of Maryland and serves on the Parent Advisory Council for the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She also serves as a trustee for the WPW Foundation, a charitable organization, which provides grants to nonprofits serving vulnerable women and children. Buhlman is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Buhlman holds a BA from Connecticut College and an MBA from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
