Kiera Hynninen is the Associate Dean for Global Marketing and Communications at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School where she leads marketing, branding, and communications strategy. Hynninen brings to Carey more than 25 years of experience in traditional and digital/social marketing, strategy, branding, acquisition and retention initiatives, partnerships, creative, research, and communications.
Before joining Carey, Hynninen served as chief marketing officer at Redbox, a leader in movie and game DVD rentals. Under her leadership, consumer engagement across all digital marketing touch points grew by double digits. Prior to joining Redbox, Hynninen served as chief marketing officer and executive vice president of marketing for National Geographic Channels. Her marketing efforts led to triple-digit increases in the channel’s viewership and revenues. In addition, Hynninen has held senior marketing positions with diverse brands including The Weather Channel, Holiday Inn, and Kraft Foods.
Hynninen earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing from the University of Richmond Robins School of Business.
