Degree Conferral
Johns Hopkins University confers degrees at the conclusion of its summer, fall, and spring terms. The conferral date is your official date of degree completion, which is displayed on your diploma. Please see the Academic Calendar for the conferral date of your graduating term.
The degree conferral application is a required step where a student notifies Johns Hopkins University that they intend to graduate from their academic program. All students will apply for their degree using the online application.
Academic Year 2026-2027 Degree Conferral Application Deadlines
- Fall 2026: September 11, 2026
- Spring 2027: February 12, 2027

Apply for Degree Conferral
- Open SIS Self-Service
- Select Registration → Program of Study Info → Apply for Graduation
- Verify your information (name to print on diploma, diploma mailing address, etc.)
Students who apply to confer their degree will be contacted with important information about conferral status, commencement ceremony attendance, and diplomas. Please note that applying for degree conferral only means notifying the university of your intent to complete your academic program. The SIS degree conferral application does not register eligible graduates for the commencement ceremony.
Diplomas
Johns Hopkins University offers Certified Electronic Diplomas (CeDiplomas) for graduated students. For more information, please visit the JHU website.
Replacement diplomas may be ordered through the JHU website under the “order a replacement” tab. Replacement diplomas are mailed directly from the vendor using United States Postal Service (for standard shipping) and UPS (for expedited shipping). Please visit the JHU website for more details.
Commencement Ceremony
The Carey Business School Commencement Ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, 2027, in Baltimore, Maryland.
