At an early age, Olu Akinrimisi witnessed firsthand the vital need for affordable health care. Like many immigrants to the United States, Akinrimisi says his family struggled at times to find care for his younger brother’s asthma. The experience drove his desire to become a doctor.
Today, Akinrimisi is nearing completion of his medical degree at the University of California San Diego Medical School. His program afforded him an opportunity to also complete a master’s program at any institution. He chose to pursue an MS in Health Care Management from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
“[Carey] highlighted business within medicine, but they also put emphasis on humanity within medicine,” said Akinrimisi. “Carey has helped me become a good health advocate, and with that I can go back into the medical field and create strategies that are able to tend to the needs of the community.”
