Walter Gunter is Director, Finance Talent Strategy of CVS Health, a Fortune 5 company.
He partners with senior management to enable human capital in CVS Health’s finance organization to achieve operating and strategic objectives. He leads finance’s pipeline leadership programs, managing talent acquisition, coaching, leadership development and performance management across more than 140 participants including rising college seniors, recent college graduates, and experienced professionals. He is passionate about ensuring that CVS Health becomes the employer of choice for the best finance talent. He also serves as CVS Health’s Black Colleague Resource Group (BCRG) National Co-Chair.
Walter has a broad set of diverse business experience, with expertise in financial analysis, strategic planning, management, and talent development in the information technology industry. Prior to joining CVS Health in 2019, he spent over 20 years at International Business Machines (IBM) in finance and planning leadership roles across five organizations while also supporting talent acquisition, education, and leadership development in finance.
He has served on the Board of Directors of Pathways Danbury Youth Ministries, volunteered his time as Commissioner of Track & Field for the Danbury Athletic Youth Organization (D.A.Y.O.), and spent over a decade as a youth mentor.
Walter was awarded the 2019 NAACP Danbury Community Service Award, which included an Official Citation from the State of Connecticut General Assembly and Special Recognition from the United States Congress.
He is a proud Historically Black College / University (HBCU) alum, with a BS in Business Administration from The University of Maryland - Eastern Shore. He also has an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Penn State University. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing tennis, and running.
