Karen Horting, CAE, is the Executive Director and CEO of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), a 43,000-member organization founded in 1950 that promotes engineering as a desirable career for women. She joined SWE in 2004 after more than 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, and fund development. Previously, she served as Director of Strategic Planning at the New York Academy of Sciences, overseeing development activities and organizational planning.
Ms. Horting holds a BS in Biology from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. She currently serves on several boards, including FIRST Robotics, the Automation Federation, the STEM Ed Coalition, and the 50K Coalition Leadership Circle. In recognition of her contributions to leadership and STEM advancement, she received the Association Forum’s Inspiring Leader Award in 2019.
