GMAT/GRE Test Waiver Policies

2021-2022 GMAT/GRE Test Waiver Policies

If you are interested in a GMAT/GRE waiver for your Johns Hopkins Carey Business School application, review the information below.

Please reach out to the Office of Admissions at carey.admissions@jhu.edu or 410-234-9220 with any questions.

Full-time MS Programs

Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is test-optional for United States citizens and permanent residents applying to full-time MS programs for fall 2021. In doing so we are extending a policy that began in Round 4 of the Fall 2020 admission cycle allowing this same population to apply to a full-time MS program without a GMAT or GRE score. Test-optional means it is your choice as an applicant whether to submit a GMAT/GRE score with your application or not. If you have been able to test and believe a test score will add value to your application, you should submit one. If you have not been able to test or believe your test score does not reflect your ability and potential for graduate study, please do not include a score.

If you wish to submit a score, we are accepting the GMAT Online and GRE at Home in addition to the traditional versions of both exams for Fall 2021.

The test section of the application will ask you to indicate if you are applying with or without a test score.

Full-time MBA program

GMAT/GRE waivers are available for qualified applicants to the full-time MBA program for fall 2021. To be eligible for a waiver, candidates must have:

  • three or more years of full-time, post-graduate work experience at the time of program start (by August 2021)

AND

  • a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in undergraduate coursework OR hold an advanced degree or professional degree (i.e., earned master’s or doctorate)

There is no separate application required for GMAT/GRE waiver consideration. All full-time MBA applicants will see questions asking if they are requesting a waiver and confirming their qualifications in the test score section of the application. If you earned your bachelor’s degree outside the United States, your 3.0 GPA must be confirmed by a course-by-course evaluation from an approved credential evaluation agency before your waiver will be granted.

If you are not eligible for a waiver or otherwise wish to submit a score, we are accepting the GMAT Online and GRE at Home in addition to the traditional versions of both exams for fall 2021.

Part-time programs

Test score requirements are waived for all applicants to part-time programs for the spring 2021, summer 2021, and fall 2021 start terms. If you have any questions, please reach out to Admissions at carey_pt@jhu.edu.
