Former NSA and CIA Director General Michael V. Hayden visited the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School earlier this month to discuss how the geopolitical landscape affects business in the global economy.
Hayden, currently a principal with the Chertoff Group, served as Director of the NSA from 1999 to 2005, and Director of the CIA from 2006 to 2009. In his speech, delivered on Oct. 12, Hayden outlined the “four tectonics” that could hinder or catalyze American success in the global economy.
Hayden opened the speech by detailing three generalizations about the world today.
“We’ve lived in a world more dangerous than the one we live in today; we’ve never lived in a world more complicated; and we’ve never lived in a world more immediate,” Hayden said.
