Carey Celebrates 2019 Graduates

The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School held its spring commencement May 21, as 230 graduates crossed the stage of the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore to receive their diplomas and a handshake from Dean Bernard T. Ferrari.

It was the last commencement presided over by Ferrari, who is retiring in June after seven years as dean of the business school. Calvin G. Butler, Jr., chief executive officer of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, was the featured speaker at the event.

In addition to serving as the CEO of the utility, Butler is a member of both BGE’s board of directors and the executive committee of BGE’s parent company, Exelon.

As chief executive, Butler oversees safety, reliability, customer service, and financial performance for BGE.

The second of the Carey School’s two annual commencement ceremonies will take place August 1, also at the Meyerhoff. Tom Polen, president and chief operating officer of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), will be the featured speaker.
