Dr. Joseph Colantuoni joined the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2002 as a Senior Professional Instructor. He works as a Senior Financial Economist for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, DC. His work involves estimating bank failure costs, pricing deposit insurance, and providing risk management support for FDIC's deposit insurance fund. He has worked on teams that implemented changes to the FDIC's risk-based premium system and developed temporary liquidity measures used by the FDIC in response to the last financial crisis. He has advised numerous countries on technical aspects of bank deposit insurance and failure resolution through the FDIC's Office of International Affairs and the International Association of Deposit Insurers. He specializes in teaching finance courses with a particular interest in the application of option pricing theory to problems in financial risk management.
