What is executive education?

Executive education at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is an immersive and highly interactive learning experience for middle-management professionals and executives. It is offered in the form of short, 1 to 3-day-long courses, taught by award-winning practitioners and thought leaders. The curriculum merges the latest research-driven breakthroughs with current best practices and empowers participants to drive innovation with immediate results. Hands-on exercises supplement the experience and allow attendees to grow their professional network. Whether you are looking to expand your current knowledge or gain new skills, you will emerge invigorated and ready to face any project with confidence.

What type of executive education courses does Carey Business School offer?

Carey Business School offers three types of executive education courses:

  • Individual non-credit courses in leadership, management, business communication, health care, marketing, and innovation and human-centered design.
  • Executive certificates in Business Communication and Health Care Leadership and Management. Coming soon! Executive Certificate in Change Leadership.
  • Custom programs tailored to specific organizations on topics most relevant to their leadership and professional development needs.

What is the difference between a short course and an executive certificate?

Our short courses are individual, stand-alone offerings, best suited for professionals who are looking to acquire new skills or who need to update their domain expertise. A certificate of completion is provided after each short course. These courses are great resume-builders and provide support for a specific desired skill.

In comparison, earning an executive certificate demonstrates mastery of a variety of skills within a certain core subject.  Earning certification in Business Communication or Health Care Leadership and Management enhances your resume and provides you with a leverage for salary negotiations, promotions, and overall career growth.

What types of executive certificates does Carey Business School have?

We currently offer two types of executive certificates – bundled certificates and comprehensive certificates.

A comprehensive certificate is comprised of one single, multi-day course that provides an in-depth, hands-on experience for participants. These programs are all encompassing where participants earn an executive certificate at the end of the final day.  Current comprehensive certificates include Health Care Leadership and Management.

Bundled certificates are comprised of multiple short courses. After completing the required short courses within a two year timeframe, participants earn an executive certificate in the available subject. Current bundled certificates include Business Communication.

How much do courses cost?

Fees vary per course, depending on the topic and the length. Please visit the web page of the course you are interested in attending to see the corresponding rate.

What’s included in the course fee?

The registration fee includes all course materials, gourmet lunch for all days you will attend, and parking.
