The Carey Business School is dedicated to educating business leaders who will grow economies and societies, and are exemplary citizens. Student Ventures provides various programs, workshops, events, and experiences to grow and practice your leadership skills.

Join the National Society of Leadership and Success

National Society of Leadership and Success is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. With over 600 chapters, the Society has over 873,000 members nationwide. Students are invited to participate in the program as a member of the Carey Business School Chapter. The program consists of an orientation, leadership training day, success networking Team meetings, and speaker broadcast discussions. The program occurs on the Washington, D.C. campus in the fall and on the Baltimore campus in the spring.

Lead a Student Organization

Consider serving on the executive board of one of Carey’s 19 student organizations. Leading one of these industry, identity, or impact-based organizations allows you to improve your project management, communication, and teamwork skills. Student leaders receive additional training from the Student Ventures staff and are seen as collaborative partners in continually improving the Carey student experience. Serve on a Nonprofit Board

Student Ventures works with Business Volunteers of Maryland to match business students with nonprofits looking for new board members. Board service is the perfect opportunity to develop leadership skills, build new networks and make a significant contribution to a nonprofit. Business Volunteers of Maryland’s Board Leadership Program prepares and recommends candidates for board positions, according to the needs expressed by nonprofit organizations, and the interests and skills of individual candidates.

Leadership Development Expeditions

Leadership Development Expeditions at the Carey Business School serve as a leadership-intensive course for all Carey degree students. Leadership Development Expeditions utilizes the unique opportunity for leadership development embedded in outdoor experiential education, providing participants the challenge of serving as a leader during an adventure expedition, and helping individuals reflect on this challenge to develop their own conceptualization and practice of leadership.

TEDxJHUDC Student Leadership Team

TEDxJHUDC is an annual student organized event set to accomplish three goals: to give a platform and a voice to the Johns Hopkins community (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) to share innovative ideas through a respected and proved platform such as TEDx, and to show the world the knowledge and ideas the Johns Hopkins community has to offer. The event also serves to unite the three Johns Hopkins schools in Washington, D.C. (AAP, Carey, and SAIS), and encourages the exchange of ideas. Join the cross-campus planning team who sets the conference theme, recruits speakers, and leads a stellar annual event.
