Leadership Development Expeditions at the Carey Business School serve as a leadership-intensive course for all Carey degree students as well as practicing managers and executives.
Leadership Development Expeditions utilize the unique opportunity for leadership development embedded in outdoor experiential education, providing participants the challenge of serving as a leader during an adventure expedition, and helping individuals reflect on this challenge to develop their own conceptualization and practice of leadership. The program combines a thorough academic introduction to leadership development and opportunity for self-assessment with repeated reflection and feedback to help individuals develop their own path as leaders. The hands-on approach to leadership development, coupled with extensive feedback and coaching, allows individuals to focus intensively on their growth as a leader.
Leadership Development Expeditions courses are offered for Carey students in all degree programs (including online programs) twice a year - once during the Intersession term in January and once during the Summer term. Leadership Development Expedition Exec Treks are available as custom programs for organizations who wish to develop their high potential managers and build a pipeline of strong leaders for the future.

Director for Student Ventures
Mike Doyle is the Director for Student Ventures in the Carey Business School Office of Experiential Learning. He has taught leadership development courses at Carey and the University of Maryland, and has led adventure-based leadership expeditions throughout the U.S., Norway, Italy, Belize, Fiji and Jordan. Doyle has also led team performance workshops for multi-national companies and government agencies. He is a certified career coach and holds a master's degree in Counselling and Personnel Services from the University of Maryland, and is also certified in Six Sigma Greenbelt, MBTI, EQi and Clifton StrengthsFinder.
Academic Director, Executive Education
Chris Myers is an Assistant Professor and Academic Director of Executive Education at the Carey Business School. His research focuses on individual learning, leadership development, and innovation in organizations, and at Carey he teaches courses on organizational behavior and leadership. His work has been published in leading academic journals and in various popular media outlets. He earned his PhD from the University of Michigan and was on the faculty at the Harvard Business School.
Myers has also worked as an outdoor education instructor in his home state of North Carolina.
