As Warren Buffet once said ,” The reason why someone sits under a shade today is because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” And I believe that the time is now for all of us to plant that tree here at Carey.

I wish I could say the road ahead will be an easy one but to whom much is given much is required. There will be lots of sleepless nights, hard work, and sweat. You shall have moments when you will doubt yourself but always remember that everyone here is on your team and nothing gives them more joy than to see you succeed.

This journey that you’re about to embark on will bring you to a place you never imagined possible. Embrace every moment to learn something new, try the new challenges that come your way, and don’t look at them as obstacles but opportunities to change the world around you.

On my first day of Summer Intensive Dean Ferrari quoted, “you don’t know what you don’t know,” words spoken by the founders of Google and forever etched in my mind. After being in the same environment for 30 years of your life you start to feel as if you’ve seen it all and there’s nothing new to learn out there. Over the 2 weeks of Summer Intensive I began to challenge myself to see if I could learn something new so I went to my friend’s place and he made dinner for me. Since he was Chinese, the food was way different from what I was used to and when I tried it, I realized that in most instances we judge things or people based on what we have been conditioned to. Being at Carey will challenge your perception of what’s “correct” and I urge all of us to go outside our comfort zone.

As you take that leap of faith into the future don’t be afraid to give it your all. Don’t be afraid to fail because this is your time to “Carey the Torch.”
