Mahdi graduated from the Global MBA program in 2017. He is currently a Sr. Controls Analyst for Exelon Corporation, in their Chicago Headquarters. Mahdi has previously been a stockbroker, having held his series 7 and 63 licenses; served in the United States Marine Corps; and also worked in politics as a political fundraiser.

Question: What advice would you give new graduates entering the workforce?
Answer: Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you want to understand something.

Question: What is one thing students should do while in school to prepare for a job?
Answer: Remain positive and exude optimism. Remember that you are always selling yourself. Also, never forget that you are an asset. If one interviewer can’t see your qualities, then move on to the next one. Someone will see how special you are.

Question: What is your favorite thing about your current job?
Answer: The people are great and everyone is willing to help and they want you to succeed. In my function I get paid to learn and to figure out how the company, and its financials, works from the inside—it’s amazing! Also, the views. I get a 360 degree of Chicago!

Question: What was the most influential experience you had at Carey?
Answer: Outside of the Innovation for Humanity program, I would say running into professor Ricard Gil in Barcelona, Spain (his hometown) during the winter break in year two and having him spent the day showing me and my girlfriend around town. It showed me that I will have lifelong friendships from my time at Carey.

Question: What three words would you use to define your time at Carey?
Answers: Hustle. Humility. Gratitude.
