A few months ago, inspired by alumni Cherie Butts, PhD and Tara GallantKatharina Schmidt and I brought an idea to the Johns Hopkins University Alumni office: let’s have a movie and discussion event with a small group of people. As a result, on January 29th, nearly 300 Johns Hopkins University students, alumni, and friends of JHU participated in the Hidden Figures movie and discussion event, a collaboration between Carey Connect, JHU Alumni Association, JHU Aerospace, JHU Women in Business, and the Hopkins Biotech Network. It was a great example of what Carey Connect stands for: network, opportunity and community!

After the movie, panelists Patricia Ordóñez, PhD; Lynn Johnson Langer, PhD/MBA (Carey alumna); Kenneth Sembach, PhD; Marguerite Hoyt, PhD; Camille Daniel; and moderators Beverly Wendland and Ashley Llorens brought the conversation to the present relating it to the experiences women face today. We were fortunate to have someone from the Hub attend and summarize the panel discussionsThe conversations were so vivid, they still continue and you can follow them here.

From Carey Connect leadership, a great thank you to our panelists and collaborators for a wonderful event!

As a follow up event on learning about great women, we have another collaborative event between Carey Connect, the JHU Alumni Association and Hopkins Biotech Network coming up. Below is information about the event. We expect equally thought-provoking conversations and great audience engagement. The event is open to all JHU students, staff, alumni and friends of JHU. The event is possible due to the generous donation of one of our Carey alumni.
