The Student Development Office is excited to formally announce the members of the DC and Harbor East SDO Student Advisory Boards. SDO received over 50 applications from students across the two campuses and members were competitively selected based on their applications that included answering five essay questions. We were incredibly impressed by the Board members’ thoughts about serving on the Board, contributions they could bring to Board meetings, and description of their strengths in the areas of ethics, professionalism, and problem solving skills.
The Student Development Student Advisory Board serves as a liaison between students and the entire Student Development staff. It meets regularly to discuss topics affecting students during their time at Carey, including SDO communications, programming, and services. Thus far the Boards have met twice with a third meeting at the end of this month.
The group has taken on a number of initiatives including improving how SDO communicates with students, finding ways for students from different programs and program formats (full-time, part-time, online) to communicate and network with one another, and building new experiential opportunities for students on-campus.
SDO thanks the Board members for their service, but more importantly we appreciate their honest input and feedback in the spirit of providing the most responsive and relevant student development opportunities for students.
