“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”

C.S. Lewis

Working in academia, I often meet students exhibiting a sense of urgency when speaking about their goals and dreams. Many identify an age by which they want to achieve certain goals. Having a timeline for your goals certainly keeps you focused and makes you more likely to arrive at the final destination. However, it is also important to realize that dreams don’t have an expiration date and that if you don’t succeed by the set date, nothing stops you from achieving the dream later in life. Barbara Beskind did just that. At 89, she was hired as a designer at IDEO, a design and innovation consulting firm, and has finally realized her dream of becoming an inventor. She is not only living her dream, but she is also helping others see problems from a different perspective. What an inspiration!
