“A single day is enough to make us a little larger or, another time, a little smaller.”
Winter break is just around the corner. What are your plans? Do your plans include spending some time job searching?
I hope your answer is a resounding YES; you do plan to focus on your career during the winter break. Make a resolution now to come back to school more prepared, focused, and ahead of the curve before introducing classes, team projects, student organization obligations, and more into your schedule.
Check out these 4 simple actions to take over your break to get a fresh start on your job search in 2015:
- Update your resume and social media profiles. Make sure your resume reflects everything you accomplished over the fall semester. Likewise, your social media profiles should be current and polished.
- Schedule informational interviews. Even if you do not plan on working in your hometown, plan on participating in at least 3 informational interviews. Take the time over winter break to polish your networking skills, learn more about your industry of interest, and discover more about business functions that peak your curiosity.
- Review job postings and actively apply to 10 jobs. Winter break is a great time to get a head start on applying for spring and summer internships. Familiarize yourself with job listing databases, get organized and calendar all deadlines, and finalize all documents required in the application process.
- Make an appointment with CDO. CDO is open through the Winter break (with exceptions of the major holidays) and will be fully open for business starting Monday, January 5th. Make an appointment to meet with a coach today in Carey Compass.
