Mark A. Shapiro began his real estate career as a broker in commercial real estate in 1978 and has sold and leased hundreds of properties in the Baltimore metro area. Mark entered the real estate development business in 1987 with Struever Bros. Eccles and Rouse, Inc., and rose to the position of Senior Development Director, overseeing projects such as The Can Company in Canton. .

In 1998, Mark started The Shapiro Company, LLC, conducting commercial brokerage and in-fill mixed-use development. As a developer, The Shapiro Company has been responsible for such projects as the Pikes Theater conversion, The Wine Source in Hamden, Hollander-95 Business Park, Ridgely Commons – Townhouses, the Montessori School in Canton, Riverside Wharf, and numerous other commercial, industrial and residential projects.

As a third generation Baltimorean, Mark has always been committed to improving neighborhoods and has served on numerous boards and taskforces that further that agenda. He received his B.A. from the University of Baltimore attending evening classes and working full time in real estate. He earned his in Master of Science in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins in 1994.
