
Anthony A. Lewis is vice president of Wholesale Development and Operations for Verizon Wireless, a position he has held since August 15, 2010. Prior to this, Lewis was responsible for executing the open development initiative. From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Lewis was the President of Verizon - Washington DC where he had oversight for all of Verizon's operations, including regulatory and financial matters in the nation's capital.
Mr. Lewis joined The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia, now Verizon Virginia in 1986 as a group manager in the operator services department. He has held a succession of positions with increasing responsibilities in product line management, traffic engineering and planning, sales, regulatory, public policy and marketing.
Mr. Lewis has served on various boards including Chairman DC Chamber of Commerce’s Governing Board, the Board of Trustees of Elizabeth City State University, the Board of Associates of Gallaudet University, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Federal City Council, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington and City First Bank. He currently serves on the boards of Fight for Children, and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Mr. Lewis is a member of the Executive Leadership Council. With more than 500 members, one-third of them women, The Executive Leadership Council is the nation’s premier leadership organization comprised of the most senior African-American corporate executives in Fortune 500 companies, representing well over 380 major corporations.
Mr. Lewis graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business in 1986. He furthered his education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business Leadership Development Program and the John Hopkins Leadership Development Program in 1996. He obtained an MBA from the Johns Hopkins University in 2000.
