Anastasia Kelly

Anastasia KellyAnastasia (Stasia) Kelly joined American International Group, Inc. (AIG) as executive vice president, general counsel, and senior regulatory and compliance officer in September 2006. Appointed as vice chairman in January 2008, Ms. Kelly retained her previous duties and also oversaw the company’s Human Resources, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Affairs functions, including Government Relations. Ms. Kelly stepped down from her position in December, 2009.

Prior to joining AIG, Ms. Kelly was a member of the corporate turnaround team of MCI (formerly WorldCom) from 2003 until the MCI merger with Verizon in 2006. At MCI, she served as executive vice president and general counsel, and led the legal, regulatory, legislative and compliance functions.

Before joining MCI, Ms. Kelly was senior vice president and general counsel for Sears, Roebuck and Co., where she managed corporate legal policy and strategy, including the corporate secretary function, and government relations. Before that, she served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Fannie Mae. Previously, she had been a partner and associate with the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now WilmerHale).

Ms. Kelly is a cum laude graduate of Trinity University in Washington, D.C. and earned her JD magna cum laude at George Washington University.
