
Norman R. Augustine is retired chairman and chief executive officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation and served in various roles at Martin Marietta Corporation including president, chief operating officer, chief executive officer, and chairman before its merger to create Lockheed Martin for which he served as Chairman and CEO. He worked for the government in several capacities, including serving as Under Secretary of the Army and later as Acting Secretary of the Army. Upon retiring from Lockheed Martin, Augustine spent two years as a professor at Princeton University.
Augustine was raised in Colorado and attended Princeton University, where he graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aeronautical engineering.
Augustine's contributions to corporate, nonprofit and university boards have been numerous. He has served on the board of directors of ConocoPhillips, Black & Decker and Procter & Gamble.
Augustine served as chairman and principal officer of the American Red Cross for nine years, as well as chairman of the National Academy of Engineering, president and chairman of the Association of the United States Army, chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association, and chairman of the Defense Science Board. He is a trustee emeritus of the Johns Hopkins University and a former member of the boards of trustees of Princeton and MIT.
He holds 22 honorary degrees and was selected by Who's Who in America and the Library of Congress as one of "Fifty Great Americans" on the occasion of Who's Who's 50th anniversary.
