Francis B. Burch, Jr.

Francis BurchFrancis B. Burch, Jr. is the chairman of the Global Board, DLA Piper US. He has helped lead the evolution of what was once Piper & Marbury, a regional firm based in Maryland with 250 lawyers, to DLA Piper, an international legal practice with more than 3,500 lawyers and revenue approaching $2 billion.

Burch is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Law Institute, and a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference. He has been recognized in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, The Best Lawyers in America (for business litigation) and in the Best Lawyers Annual Guide to Commercial Litigation
2010.

A trustee of the Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine, and a director of Equal Justice Works and the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity, Burch is also past chairman of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the University of Maryland School of Law, and the Leadership of Greater Baltimore. Burch has served on the boards of the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Calvert School in Baltimore, Jemicy School, and Dome Corporation.

Burch is a graduate of Georgetown University and an honors graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, where he was admitted to the Order of the Coif.
