Alfred R. Berkeley III

Alfred BerkeleyAlfred R. Berkeley III is chairman of the board of Pipeline Financial Group, Inc., the parent of Pipeline Trading Systems, LLC, a block trading system for equities. He was previously president and later vice chairman of the NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc. and was a general partner and then managing director of Alex. Brown & Sons. He holds a BA from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Berkeley serves on the Johns Hopkins University Board of Trustees and the University’s Applied Physics Laboratory’s Joint Advisory Council. He is chairman of the board of the Community of Science, Inc., the largest provider of grant funding information to universities, and serves on many other corporate and nonprofit boards, including those of Allen University and the Nature Conservancy. He is a member of the National Infrastructure Assurance Council, a post to which he was appointed by President George W. Bush.
