Kwang Soo Cheong, associate professor, has had his paper “Understanding the Behavior of Business Groups: A Dynamic Model and Empirical Analysis” accepted for publication in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. JEBO is a top-tier journal that publishes articles exploring the intersection of economic theory and management.
Assistant professor Celso Brunetti continues his research on the health and direction of the world’s financial markets with the upcoming publication of his paper “Effects of Central Bank Intervention on the Interbank Market During the Sub-Prime Crisis” in the finance and banking journal Review of Financial Studies. The nexus of Brunetti’s research focuses on whether Central Bank intervention during the sub-prime loan crisis of the last several years has had a beneficial effect on the “interbank market”—that facet of the industry where banks trade liquidity with each other.
Reza Djavanshir, associate professor, has been named to the editorial board of IEEE Technology and Society, a peer-reviewed journal that covers sustainability and technology. Published by the Society on Social Implications of Technology of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the quarterly journal focuses on environmental, health, and safety implications of technology; engineering ethics and professional responsibility; the history of electrotechnology; technical expertise and public policy; peace technology; and social issues related to energy, information technology, and telecommunications.
Xian Sun, assistant professor, presented her recently completed paper, “Capital Adequacy: Markets Versus Banks,” in June at Nanjing University, China, before the China Banking Regulatory Committee, and in October at the 2010 annual Financial Management Conference in New York City. Sun also presented a second paper, “Political Connections and Going Public: Do Institutions Matter?” at the International Corporate Finance and Governance Conference in the Netherlands, University of Twente, October 14–16.
