Alumni Mentor Program

The Carey Business School Alumni Mentor Program provides an opportunity for our students to communicate and develop relationships with alumni who have specific business experiences, in order to gain insight and perspective on industry and function skills, expectations, trends, and career opportunities/paths, as well as navigating the MBA educational experience. The Mentor Program facilitates collaborative relationships among alumni, students, and the business community, and offers Carey students additional support and guidance.

The program pairs students with alumni mentors whose expertise closely matches their area of interest and career goals. The matches will be created with industry and function in mind first, while also using other secondary points of interest. Each alumni mentor will work with one or two mentees for one year. It is expected that each pair will meet a minimum of four times over the course of the year, in addition to the launch and end of year gatherings. We suggest that the pairs spend at least 20 hours working together during the year.

The format is designed to be flexible in order to meet the varied needs and schedules of the participants. Each mentor and mentee should work together to define the scope of the relationship, including setting and understanding each other’s expectations, and determining what will work for them. The relationship should be mutually beneficial without becoming too demanding.
