International Scholarships

International students are not eligible for federal aid. The following list of awards, loan programs, and fellowships are available for specific groups of international students. Contact the sponsoring organization directly for more details.

Fellowship for New Americans

Soros supports 30 students for up to 2 years of graduate study (eligible students can already have started their first year) if the student holds a green card, is naturalized and/or the child of naturalized citizens. For more information, visit http://www.pdsoros.org/.

Leo S. Rowe Pan American Fund

The Rowe Fund is a not-for-profit loan fund. These interest free loans are available to Latin American and Caribbean students and are intended to meet part of the student's educational costs. Applicants must have a student or research visa, and they must be in a position to complete university studies, research or training with a period of two years before graduation in an undergraduate program and three years for a graduate degree.

Students must also be accepted for admission or be enrolled full-time at the time of application. Applicants must have meritorious personal and academic records and, in most cases, a guarantor, who is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. There is a rolling deadline for application.

The Soroptimist International of the Americas Women's Opportunity Award

Only residents of the 18 countries and territories where Soroptimist International is located are eligible. Applicants must be female heads of household with financial needs, and they must attend, or wish to attend, an undergraduate degree or vocational/skills program. International Student Loan Program

This loan program for international students to U.S. colleges allows students to borrow up to the full cost of education, tuition, fees, and room and board. Students may also take up to 25 years to repay the loan. For more information, visit http://www.iefc.com/.

Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund

For women with financial need who have a record of service to women and/or children in their country. Applicants must be nationals of a developing country who live in the U.S. but are not permanent residents. Applicants must plan to return to their countries in about two years and be 25 years old by January 1 of the year of the award. For more information, visit http://www.worldbank.org/.

Deborah Partridge Wolfe International Fellowship

Available to graduate or undergraduate U.S. students studying abroad and/or foreign students studying in the U.S. The fellowship is awarded for full-time study for one academic year. Call the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Educational Foundation at 202-387-3103 for more details.

Ruth Satter Memorial Award

Female students who are enrolled in PhD programs who interrupted their education for three years or more to raise a family are eligible. Non-U.S. citizens must be enrolled in a U.S. institution to apply. For more information, visit http://www.awis.org/.

AAUW Educational Foundation Fellowship

This is awarded to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are enrolled for full-time study at accredited institutions. To be eligible, students must have outstanding academic records, professional potential, and the potential field of study must improve the lives of women and girls in the student's country of origin.
